Sara Joanna Holt (she/her)

Founding Member/ Performer / Creative Director

Sara is so thankful to be part of the Theaterra team! She was a founding member, resident actor and costume designer of DreamRider Productions for over 23 years before launching this new non-profit, TheaTERRA – theatre for the planet.

Sara is an actor, singer, director, voiceover artist, writer, educator, multimedia creator and avid crafter who has been inspiring and unlocking creative potential with groups and individuals in Canada, the United States, India and the UK for over 20 years. She has worked with people of all ages and backgrounds, marginalized and vulnerable populations, and people with disabilities and is dedicated to helping all voices be heard. Her creative approach centres on the unique qualities of each client, providing techniques and tools to amplify their strengths while expanding their range as a performer.

For the last 2 decades, Sara has been performing and living on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and Semiahma (Semiahmoo) people. She graduated from the Studio 58 professional actor training program in the spring of 2000 and has since been working professionally as an actor on repeat contracts. Her credits include productions with: Shameless Hussy Productions, The City of Surrey, DreamRider Productions, The Only Animal, Azure Studios, The Kot Collective and Fort Steele Heritage Town. She is also currently the head of Voice and Movement at OTM (On The Mic, professional voice over training school) And the Creative Director a New Company working primarily in the intersection of Arts and Technology.

Sara has a passion for theatre, community connection, writing, animal rescue, and environmental advocacy. She enjoys volunteering for STaRS therapeutic riding program (currently working in CanTRA certification), the GirlGuides of Canada, VRRA (Vancouver Rabbit Rescue and Advocacy) Sara is happily married to her loving husband Ian, and is a doting mom to 2 teenage kids a bonus daughter, as well as rescue lurcher and 3 rabbits. In her spare time you can find Sara building fairy houses or and playing soccer in the sunshine.
